Hello everyone! The ideas for the movie become clearer and clearer by the day. Alex Martinez gave me a suggestion that everyone should just improvise their lines and I should just give you guys the objective or "point" of every scene and let you guys do the rest. That could work and that could not work. I think most of the movie will be scripted cuz I think you guys need that or else all chaos and hell might break loose. However, I will allow leeway for improvisation...sometimes the best lines are made up on the spur of the moment, and I realize that. So please, after you receive the script, do not feel limited in any way. I want suggestions and I want ideas and I want you to improvise when on the set. Just don't go OVERBOARD. Also, I was thinking I need at least two houses to work with. Obviously, we will use mine and I was hoping we could use Lizzy's or Alex Mack's as well. I have to show more than one character's house! Ok, well the point of this post is that I thought of some good angst-ridden songs that I might possibly use in the movie...download them if you feel like it. It will put you in the "angsty" mood.
"I'll Stand By You" -- The Pretenders
"All By Myself" --Celine Dion or Sheryl Crow version
"Broken Road" -- Melodie Crittenden
"Complicated" -- Avril Lavigne
"Someday We'll Know" -- New Radicals
"I'll Be" -- Edwin McCain
"All You Wanted" "I'd Rather Be in Love" "Goodbye to You" or possibly "You Get Me" -- all Michelle Branch
"Leaving Town" -- Dexter Freebish
"Everything I Own" -- Bread
"Heart and Shoulder" -- Heather Nova
"The Truth About Romeo" -- Pancho's Lament
"The World is New" -- Save Ferris (to be used for the opening montage sequence)
Yeah, there is no way I am going to use all these songs, but they have all served to inspire me in my creative process recently. So check em out if you want to! This is also kind of a list just for me so I remember all these songs when I'm in the editing process! Ciao for now!

Hello everyone..I don't know which of you are still reading this but today I came up with a new character that I hope to have Alex Martinez play. The character is named Max Maven and he is kind of an "Access Hollywood"/"Entertainment Tonight" kind of reporter. He basically narrates the whole "behind-the-scenes" part of the movie and does interviews with the cast members. He is very annoying and laughs at his own jokes. Anyway, as long as he will do it, the part is his. Hope everything is going well for you guys! E-mail me with any questions or suggestions!

Gnf15: one thing: isn't it illegal for you to use that song?
Gnf15: someone my dad knows son is at usc and he had to completely change his film because he couldn't use beatles music.
That is my friend Garrick--voicing his concern at the use of the title and song "Run Like Mad." I would like to address his concern because it is completely well-founded. Yes, it is probably illegal and I was thinking about that...but I think I'll do my *own* version with that song in it and then do another one with a name/title change and without ANY music because, technically, using ANY song in a movie without permission is illegal. In film school, they always tell us to make the movie the way WE want it and then do another version without any music to be safe. Any more questions, e-mail me! Bye bye!
I also thought I'd tell you all a little bit about where I got the title "Run Like Mad." It is actually a song by the artist Jann Arden. It was used in international airings of "Dawson's Creek" during its first season in 1998. After the first season, the international airings swithced to the traditional Paula Cole song, "I Don't Want to Wait." Anyway, I loved the song so much that I want to use it as the theme song for the fake TV show "Run Like Mad" and it works out perfectly. Here's a little more info just in case you're interested:
"I Don't Want To Wait" has been heard in the opening credits for all seasons except during Season 1 international airings (non USA/Canada). In those airings, the song "Run Like Mad," which is performed by Jann Arden, was heard. Beginning with season 2 international airings, this song was replaced with "I Don't Want To Wait". The reason was simple... the show's producers thought it would be best that Dawson's Creek had only one theme song.
"Run Like Mad" has also gone by the title "Elsewhere." Actually, there really is no official title because it was never recorded as a full song. The piece heard in the opening credits is all that was recorded, specially for Dawson's Creek. It is NOT available on any of Jann's albums nor any of the international releases of the Dawson's Creek soundtracks. There are currently no plans to re-record the song or to make this "intro" available on any recording. Anyhow, future plans are not up to Jann as the rights to the song are controlled by the show.
Lyrics to "Run Like Mad":
My heart is in my hands
My head is in the clouds
My feet have left the ground
My life is turning around and round
And every voice inside my head is telling me to run like mad
Oh bows and arrows stars and sunsets
hey hey hey yeah
hey hey hey yeah
Every heartbeat, every kiss just
Makes me wonder what all this is
Suits of armour Hearts and arrows
Hey hey hey ye-eah!

I thought I would post the cast list for the movie thus far… Some actors have two names because they are playing both a character on the fictional television show "Run Like Mad" and a "real life" person. Make sense? The "real life" name comes first and the character name from "Run Like Mad" comes second after the "/" mark....
Denica Ambrose/Emily Peldon - Alex Mack
Paige Turner/Miranda Mitchell - Krissy MacQueen
Hannah Littrell/Nicole Pierce - Elizabeth Sherman
Olivia Ross/Taylor Bennett - Brynn Crisp
Jordan Livingston/Bryce Callahan - Garrick Lewinter
Lucas Bailey/Noah Gibb - Jesse Reiss
Andrew Miller/Danny Hutton - Mike Beavers
Colleen Torgelson - Kim Udelf
Amy, Colleen's friend - Jessica Adams
Isaac Sinofsky - Chris Custodio
This blog has been created for the SOLE purpose of updating and informing everyone about my summer filmmaking endeavor, a fake documentary about a fictional hit teen soap opera called, "Run Like Mad." The date for the start of production is not finalized at the moment because the script has not been solidified yet. I am still in the process of brainstorming before I commit pen to paper (or fingers to keyboard, to be more exact). I thought this blog would be useful for everyone involved in my production to get the latest updates about my script writing process, character bios, casting decisions, and the production schedule as it becomes available. If you need to get in touch with me about the movie at all or have questions or comments on anything you read here, leave a reply here at my blog or e-mail me at ClashwFate@aol.com. Also, if you have any friends who would be interested in doing something behind the scenes or acting in the film, tell them to get in touch with me ASAP. The more the merrier, but preferably, I need lots of people to help behind the scenes as crew members! I also definitely need a "stage manager" or "head of the crew," so to speak... I'm not exactly sure what that is called in "movie lingo" so that's what I'm calling it for now...I also think that everyone should know that I don't expect this to only take 3 months (i.e. the duration of our summer vacation) to complete. You should all know this coming into the project. These things take time. Movies don't just get made overnight, but I'm sure you all know that already. People will be busy this summer with jobs, summer school, vacations, and what-not and I am aware of this. I plan on working on this project for a long time, rewriting, filming, and editing it in sections. There is no rush. I have a distinct vision for this film and I want it to reflect my best work. I plan on working on this during my school breaks next year (i.e. Christmas break 2002, Spring break 2003, and if need be, again in Summer 2003). I just think you should know how seriously I am taking this project. If this is too much of a commitment for you, I completely understand. Please don't hesitate to tell me that you are no longer interested as soon as possible so that I can replace you. Please be fair to me. I am counting on all of you unless you tell me otherwise that the year-long commitment (if need be) is too much. I won't be mad if you don't want to participate anymore. I will be disappointed because I think that you will be missing out on a great opportunity, but I will not be mad. So that is my first post. Hope it wasn't too excruciating for you! Look, the bottom line is that moviemaking is a long, hard, tedious process. But it is also one of the most satisfying, rewarding, and enjoyable experiences in the world! I hope you can be a part of my "vision" and accompany me on my journey into the unknown...sorry, I must admit that was a bit corny. :)
Signing Off--
Jessica
